A Community Crisis Response Ministry
Our Foundational Journey:
A Vision Cast, A Mission Lived
On March 22, 2024, The Faith Connection was formally launched with a bold vision to bridge the gap between acute crisis points and long-term community wholeness.
We recognized that for a ministry to be truly effective, it had to move beyond the walls of any single building; it had to be the hands, feet, eyes, and heart of Christ directly on the front lines where our neighbors need Him most.
A Unified Response: The Faith Connection
To meet these challenges, The Faith Connection was established to unite diverse denominations under one banner. By working as a unified faith community, we serve as the hands and feet of Christ, stepping in to fill the critical gaps identified in our county.
Through our strategic merger with the Lighthouse of Destiny, we have integrated a dedicated housing mission into our master framework. This partnership ensures that we not only provide immediate crisis intervention but also develop the long-term, stable residential environments essential for deep spiritual and clinical transformation.
From Vision to Action
Since our launch, we have transformed this calling into concrete action. We have expanded our strategic focus into a comprehensive four-pillar ecosystem:
Stability: Providing transitional housing pipelines and peer recovery support.
Opportunity: Building second-chance employment pathways through workforce development.
Crisis Intervention: Deploying frontline chaplaincy for public safety diversion.
The Bridge: Anchoring individuals into permanent community, clinical, and spiritual networks.
Equipping the Front Lines
Our Community Chaplains are the heartbeat of this ministry. To date, we have engaged 84 individuals in our training program, with 64 successfully becoming Certified Community Chaplains. Several have earned additional certification as SC Certified Peer Support Specialists, allowing us to serve those struggling with substance use and mental health challenges more effectively than ever before.
Looking Forward
In a remarkably short time, The Faith Connection has woven itself into the fabric of this community. We have mapped out a clear vision, and our determination to restore the broken is absolute. We are about the Father’s business, building the Kingdom for His glory, and as we have said from the very beginning:

Boots on the Ground: Impacting Horry County
When tragedy strikes, we are there. Our direct impact on the streets has grown exponentially. To date, we have assisted over 500 individuals in navigating critical resources, including:
Vital Document Recovery:
Assisting individuals with obtaining the legal IDs, birth certificates, and Social Security cards absolutely required to gain employment, secure housing, and access anything that demands official identification.
Financial & Medical Resource Advocacy:
Connecting individuals with the vital resources and knowledge needed to file disability claims for their Social Security Disability (SSI) checks, routing them to medical insurance options, and providing transportation to critical appointments.
Emergency & Transitional Housing:
Assisting individuals in getting into emergency shelters and local warming centers during severe weather, placing them into transitional housing pipelines, and providing direct referrals to domestic violence help.
Immediate Baseline Relief:
Assisting with resources to cover sudden emergency expenses, and distributing clothing, hot meals, and food to families in desperate need.
Public Safety Partnerships:
Working alongside the Horry County, Myrtle Beach, and Conway Police Departments to address homeless encampments, remediate hazardous environments, and provide immediate grief support following devastating community losses.
The Call to Action: Facing Our County’s Challenges
Our launch was born out of necessity. Horry County has experienced the most rapid growth in South Carolina since the 2020 census, with a population increase of 17.96%. This unprecedented expansion has brought significant systemic strain to our communities. We are facing a complex web of challenges:
The Crisis of Need:
Horry County has struggled with one of the highest overdose rates in the state (2024 was #1). We serve as a vital lifeline by deploying rapid frontline response, facilitating immediate clinical stabilization, and seamlessly bridging individuals into long-term recovery centers or programs tailored to each participant's choice.
Homelessness & Housing:
According to historical data, our county has held the vast majority of the homeless population in our region and a significant percentage of the population statewide, leaving many of our neighbors facing severe barriers to stability.
Barriers to Opportunity:
Many of our neighbors—especially our homeless population, those struggling with severe mental health challenges, and individuals transitioning from incarceration—face what seem like insurmountable hurdles to employment, housing, stability, and freedom because they lack the basic infrastructure needed to rebuild their lives. To break these cycles, we actively step in to provide critical care coordination, successfully connecting many of these individuals to vital mental health resources, licensed professional counseling, and stabilized support systems.
The Cycle of Incarceration:
Those re-entering society from jail or prison often lack the long-term mentorship, documentation, and support systems necessary to successfully transition into a life of freedom.
Recognizing these gaps—many of which were highlighted in the regional Opioid Study—we understood that the local faith community had a unique calling to walk outside their four walls.
